Right now, there are nearly 70 corpses in the Detroit morgue. Not as a result of a city-wide murder rampage to put the city back at number one on the homicide capital list. No, these are just ordinary dead folks. People who croaked in their sleep. Took their eyes off the road. Ate more than their hearts could take.

The cause of the frozen body pileup? Well, the family members of the expired souls just don’t have the jack to pay for a proper goodbye. Forget the nice pine caskets and bouquets of flowers. Detroit families are so strapped for cash these days that they can’t even pay for Grandpa to get fired up in the city kiln. Plus, Detroit officials claim there’s no budget to financially assist in the cost of cremation—that coffer was burned through (excuse the pun) back in June.

Sucks to be dead in Detroit, with no way out.
